Blackdown Tablelands National Park (BTNP)
First, a correction: underground coal mining certainly does leave scars on the land, just not the kind I was expecting. As we left Blackwater, for miles and miles parallel to the highway, great mounds of soil were stored in barren ridges. Jock says it’s the material that’s been removed from underground so that the miners can get to the coal seams. So...it’s not the same ugliness as open pit mining but it’s still quite ugly!

Baby Kookaburra

One of so many amazing rocks in BTNP

We both enjoyed walking up and down the Mimosa creek stream bed.

A beautiful, peaceful pool below the rocky part of the stream.

We both were in awe of this boulder.

Even more so from below!

A red grevillea flower - intriguing structure.

The warty base of a grand eucalypt.

Fringed ? I used to know, back in '95 when I could identify almost every flower we found. Not so this time, however. Google, here I come ...

Our rental agreement stipulates that we travel only on sealed roads - but all the really good stuff in Oz is on roads like this!

Our last view from the tableland.
